Educational Visit to Yerwada Central Prison, Pune, held on 26th September 2026
The Legal Aid Committee of Guru Nanak Vidyak Society’s Law College organised an Educational Visit to Yerwada Central Prison, Pune, on 26th September 2026, with 33 students accompanied by Asst. Prof. Aafreen Shaikh and Asst. Prof. Shratika Pandire. The visit provided students with practical exposure to the functioning of a correctional institution and enhanced their understanding of custodial administration, prisoners’ rights, legal aid, rehabilitation and access to justice. The activity enabled students to connect their academic learning with the practical dimensions of the criminal justice and correctional system, while fostering greater awareness of the legal and social aspects of incarceration. The visit further contributed to developing professional sensitivity, legal awareness and a socially responsible approach to legal education.
